Try a Bit Returns & Refunds Policy

We want you to shop with confidence and be happy with your purchase, but we understand that sometimes size, fit, or suitability may not be right.

General Return Conditions

  • Please notify us within 10 days of delivery if there is a size or suitability issue.

  • Approved returns must be sent back within 10 days.

  • New items must be unused, clean, and in perfect condition, with tags attached and in their original branded packaging.

  • Returns outside these timeframes may not be accepted unless agreed in advance (e.g. Christmas gifts – notify us at purchase for an extension, latest by 15 January).

  • We do not accept returns for items that have been used, are dirty/dusty, or arrive with damaged packaging.

If you’re unsure about sizing before ordering, please contact us — we have sizing charts for all products, and it’s much easier to get it right before purchase.


Exchange, Store Credit & Refunds

  • For most items, we are happy to exchange for another size or issue store credit.

  • We do not offer refunds for change of mind purchases.

  • Refunds are available under specific conditions only (see below).

 

Refunds

New Bits

  • Refunds are only available for incorrect sizing.

  • The bit must be returned in new, unused condition with all packaging and tags intact.

  • Used bits cannot be refunded.

Trial Bits

  • Trial bits remain the property of Try a Bit during the 30-Day Trial.

  • If not returned within 30 days:

    • A $50 fee will be charged for each additional 30 days.

    • After 3 months, the bit becomes your property and no refund is available.

  • Customers are responsible for keeping bits in good condition, safe from loss or theft.

  • Please use a tracked courier, as Try a Bit cannot accept responsibility for items lost in return transit.

  • The 30-Day Trial period begins on the dispatch date (confirmed by email).

Backordered Bits

  • Back-ordered bits are non-refundable once payment has been processed.

  • Refunds will only be considered if the bit has not arrived within the 6–8 week delivery timeframe.

  • Please contact us at info@tryabit.co.nz if this period has passed.

  • If you do not agree with this non-refundable policy, we recommend contacting us before purchase.

Saddles, Long Riding Boots & Show Jackets

  • Refunds are available if they don’t fit, provided they are returned in the same condition received, with tags attached.

  • You must notify us within 7 days of delivery.

Pre-Loved Bits

  • Refunds available if unsuitable, but subject to a $15 trial & cleaning fee.

Covers

  • The largest and smallest sizes (NZ 5’9 / UK 7ft, NZ 6ft / UK 7’3, NZ 3’9 / UK 5ft, NZ 4ft / UK 5’3) are non-returnable if pre-ordered, as these are not kept in regular stock.

Sale / Clearance Items

  • Final sale / clearance items cannot be returned for size or suitability (unless faulty).

 

Additional Return Conditions

  • If you receive the incorrect product and still use it, it cannot be returned.

  • Certain mouthpieces (Cable, Leather, Flexible Tubing, Bomber Blue, Rubber) are not covered for wear caused by chewing.

  • Electronic items (e.g. massage guns, infrared wraps) are covered by a 1-year manufacturer warranty. Impact and water damage void this warranty.

 

Shipping & Return Costs

  • Customers are responsible for the cost of returns unless the error was ours.

  • If we sent the wrong item, we will provide a prepaid courier label and cover the cost (NZ only).

  • If branded packaging is damaged or cannot be reused, a $100 fee will be charged.

  • Always use sufficient packaging to avoid damage during return transit.

  • We are not responsible for returns sent without tracking that go missing or get damaged.

 

Refund Processing

  • A 7% surcharge may apply to refunds (to cover direct processing costs).

  • Refunds will not be surcharged if the issue is our fault.

  • Credit card refunds generally take 3–4 business days to appear, but times vary by bank.

  • Refunds may appear as a reversal on your statement rather than a new credit.


Courier Claims & Missing Parcels

  • Courier claims for missing or damaged parcels must be lodged within 10 days (6–7 business days). Please monitor your tracking and contact us quickly if there is an issue.


Overseas Orders

  • Overseas customers are responsible for all duties, taxes, and return costs. These will not be covered by Try a Bit.
